In the Kaiserstuhl there are 16 nature reserves and numerous areal natural monuments. Around 287 hectares are protected. These are the following areas:
Endingen:
- Amoltern: Amolterer Heide - rough pastures
- Erletal - wet meadow and wetland
Sasbach:
- Jechtingen: Hochberg - dry grassland and rough pasture with shrubs
- Limberg - lime and downy oak forests, rocky escarpments and scree slopes in the quarries
Vogtsburg-Achkarren:
- Bitzenberg - downy oak forest with species-rich fringes and dry grassland.
- Schneckenberg - dry forests, dry grasslands and rocky grasslands
Vogtsburg-Burkheim:
- Rheinhalde Burkheim - steep slope with dry grassland, rocks and shrubs
Vogtsburg-Oberbergen:
- Haselschacher Buck and Badberg - extensive dry grasslands and rough pastures on 136 ha with shrubs on the steep south-facing slopes
- Oberbergener Scheibenbuck - dry grassland and shrubs on hilltops and steep slopes
Vogtsburg-Oberrotweil:
- Büchsenberg - downy oak forest with large occurrence of diptams
- Ebnet - dry grassland and shrubs
- Niederrotweil Quarry - scree slopes, rock faces and dry woodland
Vogtsburg-Schelingen:
- Dachslöcher Buck - steep slopes with dry grassland and shrubs
- Ohrberg - dry grassland and quarries
- Scheibenbuck-Bluttenbuck - steep slopes with dry grassland, rough pastures, bushes and small woods
- Schelinger Weide-Barzental - rough pastures and dry grasslands, shrubs and dry forests
There are numerous paths along and through the nature reserves from which the diversity and beauty of nature can be observed. Please stay on the paths!
Particularly rewarding from a natural history point of view is a visit to the Büchsenberg, the Haselschacher Bucks and Badberg, the Niederrotweil quarry and the Limberg.
